I am interested in quantifying the physics of flow and transport in living and engineered systems, with problems ranging from the clearance of waste in the brain and the fluid mechanics behind vision loss in astronauts, to microbial transport in the gut and pattern formation in fluids. To study them, I combine theory, numerical simulation, and experiments. Overall, the research is situated at the intersection of classical thermal-fluid science and biology and medicine, and we acknowledge generous support by NASA, NSF, and NIH.
